Incredible Disgusting News

Do not, EVER, sleep for only 2 hours the night before a football match. 'Cos that's what I did, and the end result was that my performance was disastrous!

Having felt inspired playing 'sexy football' yesterday night, I was feeling confident and raring to go for the TKH match. But for some reason, I had stayed up till 5am before I slept, and even then had to wake up at 630 am for Subuh and 730 am to go for bike prac, leaving me effectively with only 2 hours worth of sleep before the game.

During warm up I could feel the lethargy in my body, and my kicking was going nowhere. I started the game at left wing, kept losing the ball, didn't dribble, didn't take people on, didn't track back. My legs were simply too heavy. Khairul kept asking what's wrong with me, and El Capitan Yusry looked at me strangely and wondered what was going on with me.

2nd half began with me playing in goal, and I was immediately tested with a shot from the halfway line which I dealt with quite comfortably. However, soon I conceded a goal straight from a corner kick, and I was making mistakes in my judgment to go for the one-on-ones. In the end I conceded 5 goals!!! This caused TKH to lose the game 7-2. Hikam, Stop it seh. I've never played so poorly and conceded so many goals in my life. I couldn't focus, and was mumbling poor instructions to my defenders. Khairul said, "Kam, honestly nari kau main crap sey. Kau bukan your usual confident self today. Lain kali aku mesti make sure kau tido sebelum game ah." And then he grinned. Ouch =( I felt like a baby sey.

I felt bad, apologized to the team, and in the end all's well that ends well.

Where the Rain Grows

I never looked higher
Than I could see
Never gave less
Than you have given me
The more you have taken
you turned into fakes
I finally know now
Why, for Heaven's sake?

Don't tell me you did not see
that I cried
Don't act so deaf and blind
Don't think that if someone's
made dumb to the core
He would stay like before

So I take my life
Back from where the rain grows
Die to survive
Back from where the rain grows

Now you call me liar
'cause you are just the
"Always-have-rights-fools-
majority"
I think that if someone
starved at your side
You'd all turn your back
Won't give any dime

Don't tell me you did not see
that I cried
Don't act so deaf and blind
Don't think that if someone's
made sad to the core
He would stay like before

So I take my life
Back from where the rain grows
Die to survive
Back from where the rain grows

So I take my life
Back from where the rain grows
Die to survive
Back from where the rain grows
I know where the rain grows
I'm Back from where the rain grows

Ouch and Ow

Ahhh. Man I'm so tired. Just got back. Stayed home today, primarily because I had an 'urut' session with my uncle Ustaz Massba. Had my first urut in 9 months last week, and it was yowza! OK OK, more like YOW! Super, really super painful. I'll use the analogy of someone finally sending a car for servicing after 9 months of wear and tear and battering. So 1 week has passed, and somehow my body must have taken quite a battering, because my hips were aching something splendid, prompting my uncle to say 'Eh! It's been only a week since your last urut, and already it's this painful??' Of course, he said that in Malay la. Haha what can I say. I've only played soccer once the entire week, so that must be where I've gotten my aches from. I spent my time in the urut room shouting and groaning and grunting and wincing and squirming and whatnot. And Cik Massba laughed at my pain. Geez. Thanks, uncle. After that, at around 8pm, I played soccer (again) at SAFRA Tampines' artificial 5-a-side turf, honing my skills, thinking, and reaction in a tighter, more confined space. The urut must have worked wonders at clearing my bloodstream, because I was playing inspired football against some really skilful and big-sized opponents, my legs were flying and I was dribbling and defending and running around non-stop! O_O Dang, I must save my energy because tomorrow I'm playing soccer (again again), a TKH match this time, at Yishun. May the urut's effects do even better for me tomorrow! =) Amin.

Mortality

I was saddened this week by news of the death of one of the more prominent and hardworking teachers at Millennia Institute, Miss Emily Gan. Although she was never a subject teacher of mine, her dedication and professionalism was evident even to a part-time hardworking(?) student like me. Plus, she was the discipline mistress, and she dealt with us fairly, sometimes chiding us, at other times letting us off. I received news of her death by SMS from Nis on Tuesday, and sure enough soon the SMSes started flowing in from all manner of sources. She passed away on Monday night, 240308. On Wednesday night I took time off from camp to visit her wake at St. Joseph's Church at Kranji with Shahidah, and I had the opportunity to view her body from the partly transparent coffin, and also talk to her sister-in-law, a lady who was very helpful in telling us what actually happened. Apparently she died from colon cancer, over a period of 4 years. Her body will make its way to the Mandai Crematorium on Friday 290308, and her ashes thrown to the sea. Miss Emily Gan was 54.

Some Belated Videos...

WELL, this is a few weeks too late, but nevertheless, I've finally gotten hold of them videos from my brother Beg Mal's phone and uploaded them to my YouTube, and here they are. The quality is poor, and the songs ain't complete but it's good enough to make out what songs they are, and its good for those who wanted sooo much to go to the concert but didn't. Better-quality videos can be searched on YouTube though. In the meantime, from the band who brought you Heavy Metal Hamsters =D, this is ...

As We Go On...We Remember....All the Times We've...Spent Together...

Wow. What a long week it's been, I haven't gotten the opportunity to update my blog as of yet. To cut things simple and short, basically the main events that have played a big part in my life this week is the passing out of my men, thus no longer are they known as 'Recruits', since they are now trained soldiers, therefore they are called 'Privates'...the wedding of my cousin Kak Nurul, lawfully making her the wife of a man and rendering her an Eligible Bachelorette no more, and also the engagement of my former Platoon Commander at Falcon Company and good friend 2LT Muhammad Hairoul. As I realize how much I've grown as a person, I too have come to realize that I'm growing older age-wise as well, and as I look all around me, cousins are getting engaged and married, and so too are friends. This week, it's Kak Nurul's wedding and Hairoul's engagement. Next week, it's my TKH member/brudder Ridwan's turn to become the man of the house and husband to his longtime girlfriend. May Allah bless all the knots tied between them and their respective partners. I leave you here with some photos...

Of Fears and Disappointments

Sad week it's been for me. So many things going on in my life now, so many tests and challenges, so many unanswered questions and unresolved issues. It's mentally and emotionally trying. So many setbacks.

Got into a confrontation with a colleague for interfering with my platoon. Not 'friend' mind you. Colleague. Almost got into a fistfight. Lucky I'm not stupid enough to lay a finger on the bugger despite all his threats, trash-talk and poking fingers into my chest. Tough-talking youth naivety.

I'm disappointed with my platoon. Had to ban them from smoking, for defying my orders a second time not to ask for a smoke break from anyone but ME. Which explains the altercation above.

Had to confine one of them for smoking without my permission even after I had imposed the ban, and in an unauthorized area at that, namely, the toilet. I hate to do it, but I have to take action against him. I am after all, the platoon's disciplinarian. Has to do with the matter stated above this.

A-Levels results were released. My recruits did well, mostly. More power to them. As for my friends, I'm glad a lot of them did better than me, better than my batch in general, and I'm happy for them. Yet I'm sad for those who didn't get their desired outcome, and even more disappointed at how they are responding to this disappointment. It's never my intention to rub it in or something, but I care, therefore I ask. At least everyone else I've asked replied decently.

I got into my first ever accident in 2 years of driving.

Was running late for my bike practical lesson, so I drove to CDC. Entered a small lorong trying to find parking space, did a reverse into a workshop while executing a 3-point turn, when suddenly there was this loud bang. My first reaction was to drive off especially when I saw several men rushing out of the workshop, but the moral stigma was eating away at me, not to mention the fact that it would be dosa. I should mention that I was extremely terrified at that point in time, so I sped off, before coming to my senses and parking the car somewhere to face the music like a man.

It cost me a cool $120 to settle the issue with the owner of the car. Ouch. And that's not even inclusive of the cost of repairing the damage to my dad's car. Ouch Ouch. Syukur Alhamdulillah I was fine and no-one was hurt.

And oh yeah. Man U lost to Portsmouth 1-0 at home @Old Trafford. 'Nuff said.

Still, I mustn't let all these get to me. After all, despite not being able to focus on my riding lesson after the accident, I still managed to pass Prac 2 the first time, and progress on to Prac 3 next week, so I guess that's a reason to celebrate.

And Chelski lost to lowly Barnsley 0-1. Definitely reason enough to celebrate.

Late Nights In, Late Mornings Up

Week's been pretty slack, due to most us completing most major events. Yet it is with great relish that I greet Friday, 'cos it means the weekend is coming!

So what did I do? Having booked out around 9+pm, I reached home circa 10+pm. Ate awhile, showered... then at around 12+am, I linked up with Adam at Tampines Interchange to hop onto his Gilera bike to go...play football at The Cage@Kallang at 1am.

Yes, play football at 1am.

Azhar had organized a reunion for the VS Maelstrom boys, and as usual, what better way to spend the time together as a band of brothers than playing football? The usual suspects were there, Azhar the pantat jack, eFinZ the now-Suria superstar, Ikhmal the now-skinny boy, Fid Monday, Faisal Band, Zulhairi who's also my fellow TKH team-mate and Sophan anak Suria nye boss. Completing the VS presence there were my fellow Clanner Adam, who's 2 years my senior, and surprisingly, the long-missing Mirza, one year my elder.

We played against some aggressive and highly skillful opponents, at a very, very high tempo. You can imagine the fatigue I must have felt, having just booked out after a week in-camp and having to run my legs off and avoiding sliding tackles at 1+am in the morning. We played till 330am, and called it a day. It feels great to meet up with the boys once again though! No time for girls, but for Maelstrom, I'll make time.

Had to wake up early the next morning because I had my bike practical at noon. And whaddyaknow? I met Azwani! I seem to have a knack of bumping into her at all the strangest places. At her school in TP, at Pulau Tekong, at IKEA, and now at CDC. Apparently its her first-ever bike practical, and she took the same lesson with me. And hahah! I finally managed to pass my Pract 1 after 3 times! Sheesh. Had to repeat Pract 1 twice before I finally managed to progress to Pract 2. Bummer. But Alhamdulillah, I did not take as long as some of my friends who had to repeat 5-6 times. I left CDC and made my way to my dad's car only to discover that...

...I'VE EARNED (earned?) MY FIRST EVER SAMAN !!! -.- "

Sheesh. My first ever parking summons or traffic offence in 2 years of driving. $30 bucks, down the hole. All because I didn't display a lousy parking coupon. Yikes!
Immediately upon reaching home, I left with Shahmi to make our way over to Kak Syai's new home in Compassvale, where our manpower was needed in helping to spring-clean the new house. So I spent my Saturday vacuuming, mopping and assembling the bed for the master bedroom. Pretty nice place I must say. Abang Herman bought tubs of ice-cream and we tucked in, before I left at 10+pm just in time to catch the Man U-Fulham game.

Speaking of which, United spanked Fulham's sorry butt 3-0!!! =)
With what was largely a reserve team, the goals came courtesy of Owen Hargreaves, Park Ji-Sung and... Simon Davies(og). Hoho.

Yet, Arsenal managed to equalize and maintain their position with the very last kick of their game. Someday...someday soon...
SNABS messaged me asking me to support her in her dance competition by coming down to Vivo Amphitheatre. Sorry babe, I can't make it today due to commitments, but I'll certainly support ya! Good luck! And I'm all for u too, Nis~...
