Turtleneck

Never, EVER, do a physical activity from a cold start with no warm-up exercises... I learnt it the hard way.

My recruits had Combat Physical Training, and one of these exercises involves a chin-up regime. So, wanting to keep my fitness level high 'cos I had to clear my IPPT by the end of this month anyway (See Fizah?I WASN'T showing off), I decided to pull me some ups too.

Now hear this: A few days back, I woke up from sleep with a stiff neck, and it hasn't quite recovered yet. That was why I was struggling to do my chin-ups, what with the pain in my shoulders. However, I soldiered on, wanting to push myself through the pain barrier. Unfortunately, at the 9th chin-up, I felt something shift in my neck/back muscles that immediately led to me releasing my grip on the chin-up bar and left me bent over the floor and whimpering like a girl (no offence girls). The pain was incredibly excruciating, like nothing I've ever felt before. I immediately reported sick at the Medical Centre, and was given some painkilling pills, cooling gel, a 2-day MC and was excused from upper-limb activities for a week, with the diagnosis being that I had suffered a muscle strain from my neck all the way down to my upper back.

I was really struggling at this point in time, with every slight movement and sneeze/cough triggering a sharp pain. My mobility and dexterity of movement was also badly affected, I could barely turn my head a few degrees left and right. Even getting up from a lying position was torturous. As soon as I left Tekong, I headed for my uncle Ustaz Massba's house for an urut session. After giving my entire body the once-over, he said that most of my body's muscles were tegang, and I should go for individual body maintenance more often. "Send it for servicing", so to speak. Later on that afternoon, my dad insisted on bringing me over to CGH's A&E Department for further checks. The end result of it all is that I got a painkilling jab in the left arm, an additional day's MC, and a neck brace that left me looking like...well, a turtle. According to Fizah anyway. Don't u believe a word of it.

Whadcha lookin' at, Buster?
Hurts like Hell

Poor Me =(
