January (Part 1) - Abang Awel and Ain's Wedding

Cousin Abang Awel (Shahril) FINALLY's gotten married after mem-bujang for so long. It's about time too, for hopefully he'll be the first that sparks the rest of the similar-aged 30-somethings bujang2 cousins to get married also. This of course, includes my brother, Beg Mal -_-''' HAHA. Anyway, congratulations to him, and may his marriage to Ain be happy and last till the end of time and spawn many filial offsprings. Amin. Nikah was at Masjid Choa Chu Kang (I forgot the name!), while the majlis persandingan took place at my cousin's Teban Gardens area and the bride's home in Chua Chu Kang.

The following are some of the gifts to the bride given by the groom...

As one of the most senior uncles, my dad was the Wakil, or representative, of the groom.
Tok Kadi Hassan has already married off entire generations of my family. My sis's, bro's, cousin's, aunt's and even my parents' marriage solemnizations were facilitated by him!
'Aqil nak kawin dengan Mardhiah kah? O_O
Awww... now that they are officially legally married, it's now time for the Groom to kiss the Bride. Halal already!

The Kuda Kepang procession making their way... of course, this was just the harmless dance/cultural performance of Kuda Kepang... in no way will the authentic glass-eating/coconut-tearing-by-mouth-in-a-trance Kuda Kepang ever be employed by our family

Beg Mal as the groom's Best Man negotiating the first toll station of ''warriors''
Toll station consisting entirely of the bride's young female cousins. This was funny, because my uncle pushed my brother forward and declared ''Ah yang ini belum kahwin'' (Ah this one hasn't gotten married yet) HAHA
Beg Mal negotiating at the final 'toll station', the Mak Andam's
The infamous Wak Jai and his performing troupe. At the end of his loooooong session, bride and groom are usually left secretly wishing they never engaged his services, simply cos they're very hungry. Just ask my eldest brother.
