'Aqil's Birthday Bash Cum Sis's Housewarming Party

My sis and Brother-in-law (BIL) held a joint birthday celebration for their son 'Aqil Zhafir cum housewarming for their recently-purchased house in Pasir Ris today, with Winnie the Pooh as the theme for the party. With the help of some Chili Crab (long story), 'Aqil popped out of my sis last year, just a day after my own birthday, which makes him 1 year old on 16 June!

Alhamdulillah, the event went fine, with no hitches, except for a scare early in the morning when the caterer delivered the food earlier than expected and I had just woken up, all groggy and was clad only in a singlet and shorts, and what's more, the caterers consisted of 2 anak daras... but anyhoo.

I got dressed up and circa 1130am, my family left for jemputan, save for my 2nd brother, Beg Mal. And why didn't he go to the jemputan you may ask? Because... *jengjengjeng* The jemputan was from my err "ex-bakal kakak ipar", ifuknowadimean. Things didn't turn out for the both of them, and as the Malays say 'apakan daya, jodoh tiada', so my bro stayed behind guarding my sis's house while the rest of us went to eat some nasi minyak.

Anyhoo, the majlis commenced at around 2pm after Zuhur prayers. Guests streamed in... no, flooded in... and soon were merrily eating and all caught up in chat and banter before we began the majlis doa selamat circa 330pm (my memory's a bit wonky here). Somewhere around 5pm, my mom asked me to fetch 3 of my nephews (my cousin's sons... cousin had just given birth last week and couldn't attend becos she was still in Hari) because they wanted to commence the cutting of 'Aqil's birthday cake. Unfortunately, when I returned, they had already cut his cake and taken pictures, so I settled down beside Cik Massba, listening to one of his stories detailing his experiences dealing with alam ghaib. And whaddyaknow...

Aleh-aleh I heard '1...2...3, Allah selamatkan kamu! Allah selamatkan kamu! Allah selamatkan Zulhikam...' etc². You know how the song goes. And as I looked up, to my surprise, my cousins had formed a... erm for want of a better word, a choo-choo train... and caught me off-guard with a birthday cake! O_O Well I was just slightly aware that my cousins had drifted themselves away from me just a few mins before, but I had no idea they were going to... So anyway, as it turns out my birthday cake was of a football field!!! Complete with a blue sugar ball, and sugary players!!! It so happens that I've been asking my mom to make me a football-themed birthday cake ever since I saw a photo of 1 when I was 11 years old and in Primary 5, and my Sister-in-law (SIL) got wind of that and she sponsored a birthday cake like so! I've waited quite literally more than half my life for this moment! =)=)=)

Anyways, my cousins, making full use of my stunned moment, goaded me, saying I'm blushing and I'm all red. FOR THE RECORD, I DON'T BLUSH K. We took photos, and after the last shot, my SIL, bless her, she said 'Tu tak cukup!' and promptly swiped off some of the cream on the cake and smeared it onto my cheek. And thus the others began smearing me with cake-cream! Grrr... Talk about kena sabo seh.

After all the excitement has died down, night came to pass, and after all the guests have left and only family members remained, we had an opening presents session! I must say 'Aqil is one lucky baby, not yet 1 and already he has his own Levi's, Old Navy, Puma, Nike, Silver Mercedes amongst other things...

Here's looking forward to having a proper celebration for my birthday tomorrow... =)

After 12 years of waiting, my very own personal football field cake =) I grabbed the blue ball before anyone else could lay their hands on it.
