This June is gonna be a very busy month for me. Yesterday, my cousin Kak Syai held a birthday party for her 1 year old daughter, Nur Insyirah. Today, my cousin , Kak Syai's elder sister, Kak Ana got married. Not to mention the fact that it's also my parents' 33rd Anniversary today, and also Ayah Mat's and Ibu Jawahir's wedding anniversary too (yes, my mom and her sister got married on the same day). So that makes it 3 couples who got married today.
14th June will be Father's Day, which is also the day my sister is conducting an official housewarming for her home in Pasir Ris, while at the same time holding a birthday party for her 1 year old son, 'Aqil Zhafir AKA Tonet, whose birthday falls on the 16th. I don't even need to mention what day it is in between those dates! Neither am I going to reveal what significance the 17th of June holds for me...
And on the 20th of June, my other cousin, Kak Muni, will be getting married at Fort Canning park. Nikah + Sanding on the same day. As her husband isn't Malay, it'll be interesting to see how he handles the little surprise I'm surely going to spring on him that day...
Anyways. First up. Kak Ana and her husband Abang Hilmi (no, not my nephew Zulhilmi -_-'") got married at Pasir Ris Park, Piai Plaza, which is right next to Aranda Cuntry Club, Downtown East. Us male cousins had been busy shifting the boxes of berkat to and fro in the days leading to today, while our lady counterparts have been busy with their own work with the bride. Alhamdulillah, the wedding went well, and the nikah was solemnised with the help of the Tok Kadi Ustaz Hassan, who has personally been responsible for marrying entire generations of my extended family. Of course, the groom isn't going to have it so easy as to nikah and straightaway sit beside his wife, they had to get past ME and my kuncu² (KUNCU² KAPPA HAHAHA) first! Armed with a giant ladle, periuk covers and whatnot, it took some haggling and negotiations plus a bit of... financial incentives to sweeten the deal, shall we say... before I let him proceed... only for his entourage to be stopped by my female cousins. Their turn to haggle for some money. Haha!
The day passed by with my dad presenting my mom with a bouquet of roses, our usual crazy Cuzzenhencemjambu Clan photos, me, Iswandy and Shahmi sneaking off to err explore the Pasir Ris mangrove swamp in the evening, me playing football on the flat lands next to the wedding site (yes I brought a football along to the wedding... u have a problem with that?), and another instance of me, Iswandy and Shahmi... this time plus Raihan... exploring the said mangrove swamp around approximately 730pm after our Maghrib prayers.
My congratulations also go to my cuzzen Kak Tahirah and Hubby Abang Wan, on the birth of their newborn daughter Rumaisa binte Noor Irwan, Rumaisa being the name of one of Nabi Muhammad S.A.W.'s sahabat. Kak Tahirah wasn't present at the wedding ceremony because she was busy adding to the ever-expanding CuzzenHensemJambu Clan. Coolio!
Enjoy the photos.
