So that's it then. I've gone through probably the last outfield exercise before I ORD. 9 days of field camp + SIT Test has left me more than a little sian, but I'll also miss the experience which I probably can't get anywhere else.
Teaching my men how to take cover behind trees and obstacles. Storming rooms and windows. Screaming my head off at them. Making them leopard crawl and pick up their litter. Knocking them down. 'Prata-ing' them by making them change to crunches. Knocking them down again back in camp for no apparent reason, only to present a birthday cake for them and making them realize its just a prank. Sleeping on the safari bed, waking up to stare at the glittering pre-dawn sky. Waking up at 0345hrs in the morning to go alone deep into the bushes and pee. Throwing rocks upwards to dislodge the bats roosting on the ceiling. Taking off my boots to climb up a tree to dislodge something stuck up there, just like a kampung boy. Catching snakes. Catching milipedes. No wild boars this time though. Catching fish. Catfish. Digging up the beachhead, looking for fat worms to catch fish. Managing to catch only half-a-worm, and a skinny little idiot worm. Discovering clustered little balls that look like eggs buried beneath the sand. Catching crabs. Catching hermit crabs. Speaking of hermit crabs...

Asri was playing with and showing us the hermit crab he caught in a Tupperware back at company line. Poor thing was clawing around, clearly out of its element in a dry, airtight container. So I suggested, "Eh, put in some water la, if not it can't survive long without water to breathe!" (for the uninitiated, crabs breathe by extracting oxygen in water through their gills)
And Asri replied...
